Services

Adult & Child Medical Care

Our medical centre is far more than a place to go when you are feeling unwell and needing a quick cure. Our doctors and Nurses who see you have gone through extensive medical training to equip them to help children and adults of all ages with a range of physical and emotional difficulties. We’re also aware of the link that stress and unhappy life events have on physical health so know when to suggest a talking therapy rather than medication.

Minor Accident Care

We offer a range of services and are able to manage most minor injuries. If we’re not able to treat an injury, we’ll refer you to the appropriate service.

Please note: We are not a walk-in Accident & Emergency service. Appointments are required. If your injury is urgent or severe, please attend your nearest A&E department or call 111

Repeat Prescriptions

Patients with stable long-term conditions (such as asthma, hypertension or diabetes) may be eligible for repeat prescriptions for up to 12 months. Please speak with your GP to see if this applies to you.

Requests can be made via the Manage My Health app or by leaving a clear message on our prescription line.

Liquid nitrogen

Liquid nitrogen is a fast, effective treatment provided to treat viral warts, sun damaged skin, skin tags and many benign cosmetic lesions. It comes in a container with a nozzle and is usually applied by swab or spray. Often one treatment is all that is needed but sometimes we may need to repeat after two weeks.

Immunisations

Before Your Vaccination

Please let us know if you:

  • Have had a severe allergic reaction to a previous vaccine

  • Take blood-thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

If you are unwell on the day, please call to reschedule.

Immunisations and Vaccines

We provide a full range of funded and non-funded immunisations (some may incur a charge) at the practice to help protect you and your whānau.

Vaccinations are given by our practice nurses, who will check that you are well on the day and answer any questions. Serious reactions are rare.

All childhood immunisations are recorded in the Well Child / Tamariki Ora My Health Book and on the Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR), which helps ensure vaccines are given on time.

We also offer selected travel vaccinations following a consultation with one of our GPs

Cervical Screening

Cervical Screening

Cervical screening is recommended for people aged 25 to 69 who have ever been sexually active.

The current test checks for HPV (human papillomavirus), the main cause of cervical cancer. If your result is normal, screening is usually required every five years.

Regular screening is the best way to prevent cervical cancer, even if you have been vaccinated against HPV.

If you are unsure whether you are due for screening, please contact the practice and we can help.

For more information about cervical smear tests click on the link to the National Screening Unit website here National Cervical Screening Programme | National Screening Unit (nsu.govt.nz)

ECG

An ECG is a simple test that records the electrical activity of your heart. Small patches are placed on your skin to measure your heart rhythm.

The tracing is reviewed by one of our doctors and can help identify heart rhythm problems or signs of previous heart issues.

COVID-19 & Flu Vaccinations

Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your whānau from serious illness.

We offer COVID-19 boosters and annual flu vaccines at the practice.

In many cases, these can be given at the same appointment. Please call us to book a vaccination appointment.

COVID-19 Boosters

COVID-19 booster doses are recommended for eligible patients to maintain protection, as immunity can reduce over time.

Eligibility and funding criteria may change, so please contact us if you are unsure whether you are due for a booster. In most cases, it is advised to wait at least six months after your last COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed infection before receiving another dose

Flu Vaccine

The flu vaccine is recommended annually, particularly for:

  • People aged 65 and over

  • Pregnant people

  • Those with long-term medical conditions

  • Young children (funded for certain age groups)

Funded vaccines are available for eligible patients.

Before you get vaccinated, please let us know if you:

  • Have had an allergic reaction to any vaccine or injection in the past.

  • Take a blood thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
